This set of lessons use the metaphor of fire to ask questions about the life cycle of personal passions. We feel a spark within us to do something special and important. It grows and burns within us and we commit to it. We give it fuel and help it grow. Sometimes this passion burns us up and we feel empty and tired. We can look at the ashes of our passion with bewilderment and a sense of failure. We feel shame because of what we see as inadequacy. But there is hope because God is always with us. We always have a place with God. And so our passion can be rekindled.

Questions that will be considered over the course of these lessons are:

  • What does the flame represent in your life?

  • What is the source of your flame?

  • What feeds it and what keeps it going?

  • When has your flame gone out?

  • What did you learn from that experience?

  • What gave you hope when you felt shame (the feeling that you had no place or purpose)?

  • What reminds you that you are not alone?

  • How do you want to share your light?
